A Loseley Park Wedding ~ Caroline & Joe’s Stunning Summer Garden Party
A Loseley Park Wedding, Surrey
Caroline and Joe’s wedding was always going to be a stylish affair. They didn’t disappoint.
We started the day at The Manor House in Godalming – often the go-to hotel for Brides & Grooms getting married at Loseley Park. It’s a lovely hotel actually, and I’ve always secretly hoped they’d do wedding there too one day, but nice none-the-less.
The girls. Bridesmaids can be and usually are the measure of what kind of day I’ve got ahead of me, and this day was shaping up to be a giggle from the get-go, plain and simple. Lots of cheekiness, but completely on it. I also saw the boys at the Manor, Joe the epitome of cool leading the guys by vintage bus down to Loseley.
Even now, after so many weddings at Loseley Park I get goosebumps when I turn the corner and face the grand facade of the house. It’s become so much a part of the way I shoot, and a character that stands firm at any wedding. I suppose it’s the same for a lot of venues, and it’s a hard thing to describe, but Loseley just has it. When you’re there as much as I am it becomes a reliable old friend, but the real joy is seeing the look on people’s faces as they arrive, perhaps seeing the house for the first time.
Inside, the ceremony is class. Seeing Caroline walk down the aisle sets the temperature and the expectation is written on Joe’s face. Amongst the readings Joe even manages to say something – a kind of welcome to the most amazing day of my life and thanks for coming speech. It really works.
A few photos in the private back room and we’re in to the gardens after a full wedding party photograph in front of the building.
Now, the gardens at Loseley Park are stunning. With the weather that these guys are having it’s easy to guess how this is all going to turn out. We take a detour as the rest of the guests meander down towards the fountain and the White Garden for drinks and canapés. This is the time that we have to shoot their couple’s portrait session, and I’ve got to say, these two were on top form. We’d already had our pre-wedding Together Shoot down at Wisley Gardens, so I knew that they were totally in tune with having their photograph taken, but once we were in the gardens and in full wedding dress they managed to take it to another level entirely.
By the time we adjoined the rest of the guests, it was like they’d never been away – just the way I like it. I never want to get in the way of schedules with an arduous photo-shoot, so getting Caroline & Joe back into the party was just what I wanted, and it worked beautifully.
From here everything just flowed; A walk up to the Tithe Barn for the wedding breakfast and then cracking on into the evening for an energetic and enthusiastic party. All was well and I just loved watching the confidence of this sparkling, fun, and stylish wedding at Loseley Park.
Thanks Caroline & Joe – you do indeed rock!
